Cyber Bullying - The Law

Before you hit that send button

Know the facts  - think twice

If YOU send a text message, Voice mail, or email to anyone or get someone to send it on your behalf and that message is nasty, abusive or mean and makes the person receiving it upset or worried THAT CAN AMOUNT TO BREAKING THE LAW.

If YOU send malicious lies about others in text messages or emails or any other method of communication (blogs)

THAT CAN AMOUNT TO BREAKING THE LAW.

The police can trace mobile phone numbers to their owners and that is the same with email addresses and so you cannot get away with it!

Mobile phones and computers can be interrogated by police and deleted messages can be recovered from them.

THINK TWICE - IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?

YOU COULD GET A CRIMINAL RECORD?

For those of you on the receiving end of these nasty messages - Dont suffer in silence - please try and speak to someone.   Try and talk to your parents / teachers.   Take a copy of the things that have been sent, or save them so that you can show them.  Have a look at the links page for more help and support
